About Our Products
Cattail Cottage is a small, locally owned shop located in downtown Southport NC. While the town itself is a popular destination for beach-goers, we are not your usual tourist stop. Pamela and her team strive to provide our customers with high-quality, unique products that you wouldn't typically find in your every day home, garden, and gift store. Pamela meticulously researches the companies she orders from as well as the quality of products offered. Once in the store, each item is checked and then creatively displayed throughout the store. Always with a mind of making the old look new again, the products offered and even the displays are changed out on a regular basis (sometimes every day), to keep the store looking fresh and giving our customers new ideas for their home decor.
The Blessing Flower is a graceful, rare, and resilient desert flower that amazingly continues to re-bloom for years, long after it has been set on jewelry. With just a few drops of water, it will bloom, staying open for an hour each time.
The re-blooming ability of the Blessing Flower is a part of the survival mechanism of the flower. It grows in the harshest conditions of the Judean Desert, with limited resources. Once a year the flowers bloom with yellow petals (resembling a yellow daisy). After a few months the petals dry, closing to protect the seeds. Every time water is present around the dry flower, the petals open, letting some of the seeds out, and closing to protect the rest, in a process that repeats itself for years.
The flower represents a powerful reminder that life is filled with blessings to be thankful for and no matter what challenges we are facing - we bloom again!

The idea for Muffin Meals came from two long-time best friends who live in Morehead City NC. Julia Vradelis and Allison Worrell are busy moms who do not necessarily have the time or even enjoy cooking. Hence, Muffin Meals. They worked collaboratively to create the recipes inside their two cookbooks, Muffin Meals and Muffin Meals & Memories, with the inclusion of their families. They expanded their meals to include the baking necessities of pans, mits, and even muffin pulls. Both women lost their mothers to cancer and have dedicated a portion of the sales to Hospice Care their memory as well as for all those lost to cancer.
Quilling has been around for hundreds of years, the art of rolling or coiling and shaping of small strips of paper to create a pattern or design dates back to Egyptian times. Sources say that during the Renaissance, nuns and monks would roll gold-gilded paper to decorate religious objects as an alternative to costly gold filigree. In later centuries the art of Quilling became a favorite pastime for European ladies who would decorate household items with the quilling techniques. The art got its name due to the use of bird's feathers (quill) to coil the paper upon.
The art found its way to America with the pilgrims. Today, quilling is still practiced throughout the globe as an art form. The cards on our website are all handcrafted in Vietnam by artists who practice the skill and joy of creating three dimensional greeting cards. Don't just send a card--send art!
